Dress Purple Day
Help raise awareness for children’s right to safety and well-being in all spaces.
#DressPurpleDay2020
Throughout October, the communities of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry will proudly proclaim their support in recognition of the rights of children and youth to safety and well-being.
On Dress Purple Day, we celebrate the community that cares for families and share the message that help is available and no one is alone.
How to participate
Participate on "Dress Purple Day"
On October 27th 2019, our community will dress in purple as part of the campaign! Join the movement, and get your purple T-shirt for $10 and your purple masks for $3 at Baxtrom Your Independent Grocer.
Help us raise awareness among students.
To support Ontario Dress Purple Day and its focus on getting and giving help, we are providing online classroom resources to help teachers make it a meaningful and engaging learning opportunity for students.
The Ontario Dress Purple Day materials have been developed by Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre and Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society, organizations that have decades of experience teaching child abuse and neglect prevention in schools. The purpose of the Ontario Dress Purple Classroom Resources is to assist teachers to talk about child abuse and neglect in an age appropriate manner and to help raise awareness among children and youth about how to ask for help from adults in the community. Ensuring that children and youth are aware of helping adults in their support network offers them an important prevention tool.
Decorate your house!
Integrate purple into your Halloween decorations. Talk to your neighbours about spreading purple around your neighbourhood! And why not do the same with your business?
Buy purple pumpkins!

Why Pumpkins?
Having a purple pumpkin on your front porch symbolizes that you are a home that is a part of a community that helps keep kids safe.
